The Site Planner
Plan a site that isn't built yet. Describe the business, review the proposed page structure, and let MetaMonster assign keywords so SEO shapes the site before the sitemap is final.
Most SEO work happens after a site launches, which means the page structure, and half the ranking potential, was decided without it. The Site Planner flips that: describe the business, and MetaMonster plans the pages and keyword targets before anything is built. It’s made for web designers and agencies who want the sitemap itself to be an SEO decision.
Starting a plan
From the add-a-site screen, choose Plan a site from scratch and click Start planning.

You’ll describe the site in two fields:
- Tell us about the site. What the business does, who its customers are, and what makes it different. If you already have a creative brief, you can paste the entire thing in here instead of writing a new description. The more specific you are, the better the plan. “A fee-only financial advisor in Denver for tech employees with equity compensation” beats “a financial advisor” every time.
- Planned domain or site name. Optional. Skip it if you haven’t picked one yet.
Click Continue and MetaMonster analyzes the brief.
Reviewing the pages
Next you’ll see the proposed page structure: the pages the site should launch with, based on your brief. Before anything is created you can:
- Edit a page’s name and description
- Remove pages that don’t fit
- Add pages you know you need
- Edit brief to change the description and regenerate the whole plan
When the structure looks right, click Set up my site. MetaMonster assigns the best keyword to each planned page, which usually takes about a minute.
Working with a planned site
A planned site works like any other site in MetaMonster, except there’s nothing crawled yet. Each planned page has keywords, and from there you can:
- Review and adjust keywords in Keywords, like any other page
- Generate a content brief for each page, with the SERP competition, a unique angle, and an outline to write against
- Write or draft the content, so every page launches with something built to rank instead of placeholder copy
Hand the plan to your designer or developer and build the site against it. Page names, keyword targets, and content are settled before launch, instead of retrofitted after.
